Local Bookshops

The Word Bookshop

314 New Cross Rd, London SE14 6AF, UK – 020 8355 9378

I received a very friendly welcome at this bookshop and was impressed by the breadth of the stock: you'll most likely find what you're looking for here across all genres and subject matters!

Great to see a new independent bookshop where students can pick up what they need, especially since the Goldsmiths shop closed down a while back. Fantastic selection of fiction too (love the £3 section). They've also got a children's books and a graphic novel section. The atmosphere is a bit more lively than most bookshops (there's always music playing, often ska). They've started running some literary events too so worth keeping an eye out to see what they get up to in future.

Waterstones

51 Greenwich Church St, London SE10 9BL, UK – 020 8853 8530

Good shop.and lovely cafe but the toilets once again need attention. A rota to check if they have soap toilet paper. Not hygienic to not have soap . Staff in cafe lovely and good books. Well located

a big store with a variety of different books, i went there and read for 2 hours in the cafe, the staff were very nice and helpful and overall it was great. only downside are the toilets which require a password to enter and there’s only one toilet.

Waterstones

34 Tranquil Vale, Blackheath, London SE3 0AX, UK – 020 3409 1463

Very knowledgeable staff. Keen to help you find the right book for you. Great service. Well worth a visit.

Lovely little book shop. Has a fantastic travel selection & a pretty well stocked kids section. Called The Blackheath Bookshop it’s actually a Waterstones so you can still use your loyalty cards as well as vouchers. They can also order pretty much any book. They are a great place for cards and small birthday presents too. It’s often got quite a few other people browsing but never seems overrun. Well worth checking out
